PASTORAL AREA PILGRIMMAGE TO KNOCK
Pastoral area Pilgrimage to knock on Saturday, June 8 .
Monday, June 10 walkers meet at Ballingarry at 8 pm to climb Knockfierna.
Sympathy is extended to the brothers and sisters and entire family of Jim Lynch RIP, Mayne, Castlemahon. A native of Granagh , the late Jim was well known and popular for his work over a wide area and g.a.a involvement with his own club Granagh Ballingarry and prior to that with Granagh, he represented both clubs in the g.a.a playing fields and served on the West g.a.a board as assistant secretary up to his regretted passing. His removal was on Friday evening from O’Grady’s funeral home Ballingarry. His burial after mass on Saturday in St Josephs church, Granagh to Granagh cemetery. The chief celebrants were Very Ref Fr Patrick Bluett P.P, Very Rev Fr Daniel Lane P.P, Rev Fr Joseph Cussen C.C. Music and Hymns at mass by Ann Morrissey, Lisa Murphy, Gráinne Lynch. The symbols of Jim’s life were brought to the altar, a guard of honour was formed by members of the Granagh Ballingarry gaa club. His coffin was draped in the club colours, they were joined in the guard of honour by west gaa and county gaa officers and other club members and referees association.
He was laid to rest in Granagh cemetery close to the Glesha Buí river and the hill of Knockfierna looking down. On Friday evening at his residence in Mayne, the neighbours and friends formed a guard of honour in front of his home when the hearse passed and stopped in front of it. West board secretary Breda Breen (Hartnett) gave an oration in church, and his brother John paid thanks.
