It was very tense in Askeaton hall on Saturday night as we waited to hear who would get gold medals at the Limerick County Community Games finals. Then a mighty cheer went up as they announced Feenagh/Kilmeedy. So for the second year in a row our under fourteen dancers will represent Limerick in Athlone. The All-Ireland is set for the end of May 2013 but before that our dancers will be at home as there is a big concert planned for Feenagh Hall on the 4th of May 2013. All our dancers have been asked to take part including the under ten teams. There will be loads of other local talent also on that evening and you can give your names to Mary Irwin at 086-8456399.
Back to Askeaton and all our dancers were excellent on the stage. We must also compliment their great costumes and the brilliant face painting done by Tara Hurley. The gold medallists are Melanie Gilbourne, Emma Healy, Lorna Donegan, Tara Madigan, Aisling Enright and Ciara Heenan. What a busy night Ciara had as she also took part in the solo modern dance competition. A quick change of costume after her team’s dance and Ciara was back on stage where she performed very well in the solo dance final. Ciara didn’t win an individual medal but Carrie-Ann Devine won a brilliant silver in her first year at under fourteens. Both girls must take credit as they designed and performed the whole dance routine by themselves. All our competitors had great support in Askeaton. We must thank all the parents for their help and our super dance teacher Catherine Upton. See you all in Feenagh hall on the fourth of May. Well done everyone.
