A great concert was held at the newly refurbished Feenagh Hall on Saturday May 4th organised by Kilmeedy Development Group. The youth of the parish turned out in numbers to give a mighty display of singing and dancing.
First out were the Community Games Modern Dancers and their solo dancers on the evening were Carrie-Ann Devine, Jennifer Dowling and Ciara Heenan. They had four teams dancing and the under ten dancers who won the most entertaining act were Emma Holmes, Nicola Williams, Corey Lynch, Colleen O’Dwyer and Lucy O’Gorman. The county winners of under 10 were also on stage and their team is Aoife Kelly, Kayleigh Gilbourne, Leah O’Donoghue, Chloe Enright, Ella Donegan and Jennifer Dowling. Catherine Upton, dance teacher got great help from Laura Gilbourne and their first under 14 team is Emma Enright, Sarah Farrissey, Carrie-Ann Devine, Chloe Fitzgibbon, Maeve Kenneally and Karla Donegan. Our under 14 team who will represent Limerick at the All Irelands later this month in Modern Dance are Emma Healy, Melanie Gilbourne, Tara Madigan, Ciara Heenan, Lorna Donegan and Aisling Enright. They are current All Ireland bronze medallists.
We had excellent musicians and singers on stage in Feenagh and a big thanks to Lisa Murphy for her help on the day. Cathal Murphy was also very busy as he accompanied a lot of the singers. These included Ellen Condon, Niamh McCarthy and Ciara McCarthy. The traditional group music team of Tara, Megan and Maurice Fitzgibbon, Marie Danaher and Sean and Keith Shine played lovely tunes. There were solo performances by Shauna Kenneally, Clionadh O’Keeffe and Ciara Heenan. Anieta Kelly dancers had a set of reels and the group is Shauna O’Connor, Caoimhe Stritch, Grace Noonan, Eimear Galvin, Orla Bennis, Aoife Kelly, Sophia Jane Harrold, Nicole Collins and Niamh Galvin. There was great enthusiasm by all the youngsters taking part on Saturday night. We must not forget two stalwarts of the Rambling House in Kilmeedy in Jim Lyons and Sean O’Gorman. Jim sang a lovely song on Saturday and Sean supplied the sound equipment for both Kilmeedy and Feenagh. Without our volunteers and sponsors we would not be able to run a successful weekend.
