David Boyce and Dylan Murray-O’Connor on defensive duty

Going into today’s game at O’Brien Park  against Athea, Feenagh U-12’s sat on top of Division 3. Under the tutelage of Donal Madigan and John Kelly, the side had garnered 2 wins and a draw to date. This good run continued after an exciting 3-2 victory this afternoon.

Lee Madigan and Diarmaid Ryan were both causing the Athea defence problems with their trickery up front and were ably assisted by some good runs from midfield by Ronan O’Connor and also by Liam Power, who delivered some good left footed crosses into the box. It was Lee Madigan who put Feenagh in front, and soon after he came close to doubling the advantage. Athea then equalised from a free kick to leave the half time score 1-1.

Despite good defensive displays from Ian Kelly and David Boyce, and some good handling from keeper Conor Heenan, Athea took the lead midway through the second half. A neat finish from Madigan restored parity for the home side and soon after, Liam Power struck for what proved to be the winner.
