Community Games – Feb 2013
Medals of all colours came to Feenagh/Kilmeedy this weekend following success at the U/10 Talent Competition and also in the draughts. For the first time ever we won the shield for the most entertaining act at the talent final when our under ten modern dance teams were triumphant. Gold medals were won by the blue team of Kayleigh Gilbourne, Aoife Kelly, Leah O’Donoghue, Jennifer Dowling, Chloe Enright and Ella Donegan. Silver was won by our young white team of Emma Holmes, Corey Lynch, Nicola Williams, Lucy O’Gorman and Coleen O’Dwyer who were also the shield winners. In the solo modern dance Grace Coleman won silver and Jennifer Dowling won bronze. The kids did so well and for some it was there first time ever on stage. Our thanks go to dance teacher Catherine Upton and to hair and make up designer Laura Gilbourne.
Another person we must thank after a successful weekend is our draughts coach Frank Power. It was our first appearance in a draughts county final after a great 6-4 win over Ahane/Castleconnell in the semi-final. Frank has done a lot of hard work coaching this under 12 team of Hannah O’Sullivan, Patrick Irwin, Brian O’Callaghan, Iain Kelly and Liam Power. In the county final we met Ballybrown/Clarina who had defeated host club Ballingarry/Granagh in their semi-final. It will be Ballybrown who go on to represent Limerick in the Munster final after a brave display by our young team.
Upcoming events in Community Games are the first round of the under 14 talent in Askeaton on March 9th and the Limerick final of the cross country is on March 10th
