Feenagh Soccer Club Trip to Dublin

Trip to Dublin
Our club trip to the FAI Cup Finals at Lansdowne Road, Dublin, on Sunday last was a great success. We departed Feenagh early on Sunday morning with 48 bodies on board the bus. After a pitstop at Junction 14 we continued our journey to Dublin 4. Upon arrival at the stadium we caught the final 20 minutes of the women’s final where Wexford emerged victorious by a single goal. It was a first visit for many of the group to the stadium and all were impressed with this modern venue. The men’s final went the way of Dundalk after an entertaining and closely fought 90 minutes of play that kept our underage contingent engaged throughout. The journey home was broken by a welcome food stop at Moneygall. Tired but satisfied bodies alighted onto home soil at 10.30pm to bring an end to an enjoyable day out in Dublin.

We secured a fine win over Premier Division opposition to advance to the last 16 of the Desmond Cup. John McDermott scored twice, one in each half, with Luke Ryan also on the mark in stoppage time at the end of the game. We had numerous other chances to add to the scoreline over the 90 minutes, the closest being efforts from  Billy O’Sullivan and Luke Ryan in either half which both hit the woodwork. We now advance to a round 3 clash away to Killeaney. Big performances on the day from Ryan, Damian O’Riordan, Jack and Billy O’Sullivan, James Dillon and Conor Ahern who deputised well in goals.
