FEENAGH/KILMEEDY PARISH NOTES FOR WEEK OF JANUARY 22ND 2018

 

MASSES

Saturday January 27th at Feenagh church at 7.30pm – The living and deceased members of the Watson family.

Reader – Margaret Irwin, Eucharistic minister – Eily O Brien, Alter servers – Kate O Sullivan, Tomas Galvin.

Sunday January 28th at Kilmeedy church at 10am – Terry O Callaghan R.I.P.

Reader – T.J Madigan, Eucharistic minister – Deborah Prout, Alter servers – Emily Harrold, Josh Gilbourne, Rhys Devine.

ROSARY

Rosary at Feenagh church on Friday January 26th at 7pm.

DEATH

The death occurred on Tuesday January 16th at Killeline Nursing home,Newcastlewest of Mrs Katherine (Kitty) O Connor, Gurteen Feenagh. Her removal was on Wednesday evening from Sextons funeral home Broadford to Feenagh Church. Her Burial after mass on Thursday to Kilmeedy cemetery. The Chief celebrant at mass was Very Rev Fr Patrick Bluett P.P Feenagh /Kilmeedy. Other concelebrant was Very Rev Canon William Fitzmaurice P.P  Croom. In attendance at the removal was Very Rev Canon Seamus Ambrose P.E.  Altar servers were Corie Lynch and Thomas Galvin. Music and Hymns at mass from Donie and Maura Nolan, Kilcolman.

The late Mrs Kitty O Connor Nee Noonan after her marriage to the late John O Connor, they resided at her home residence. She had reached her 90th years and was a well known and popular member  of the community who had a very active and dedicated life. A very pleasant woman to meet and was always very supportive of the parish fund raising ventures. Sympathy is extended to her sisters Mrs Mary Kelleher, Mrs Betty Campion (Hurley),nephews, nieces and the entire family.

RAMBLING HOUSE

Rambling house at Aras Ide Kilmeedy on Friday January 19th,The first session for 2018. We had another fantastic night even though there was a lot of activities around Granagh and a play on in Castlemahon. We had top class music from Stephen and Dan Madigan, and the man from Freemount, Eamon Cronin who never lets us down. Also great singing from Nora Kennedy and Mary Gleeson, Corie Lynch and Stephen and Eamon. The jokes were fantastic from Christy Kelly. The tea and goodies were served  at the usual high standard with lots of raffle prizes. A great night was had by all. The next Rambling house will be on Friday February 16th and this will also be a memorial night to remember some of our past entertainers like Johnny Donegan, Johnny Sexton ,Ben O Gorman, Bobby Morrisson, Rest in Peace, always remembered ,never forgotten. We hope to have members of their families with us on the night. It was at the end of the show I got the sad news that Bobby Morrisson had passed away. We offer our condolences to his wife and family. AWARDS

Congratulations to two club members who will receive sports star awards from West G.A.A Board Hurling hall of fame – Maurice O Sullivan , Christy Kelly, Scor awards. Presentations will be made at a social at Rathkeale House Hotel on Friday February 23rd.

FREE COMPUTER  TRAINING COURSES

Iolar Training is running some more free Digital Skills for Citizens computer and internet training courses in Newcastle West beginning on February 19th and 20th. The courses are open to everyone and will run for two hours per week for five weeks. Training is aimed at beginners and new users and gives participants the knowledge, skills and confidence to use the internet. Last year, almost 500 Limerick city and county residents completed our free Digital Skills for Citizens courses going from learning how to switch on a computer to booking flights and making video calls.

  • Conducting everyday transactions

  • Voice and video calls online
